Wedding Trend Wednesday (late again) : Guest Books

Hey Dolls,

Okay so apparently, I thought I would be WAY more on top of posting than I have been.  Hence another day late for Wedding Trend Wednesday.  Upside?  I get to pass my time at the library doing this instead of wasting time on Satan's Site Pinterest.
*side-note:  you can totally follow me on pinterest...awilso23 :)

Alright Wedding Trend Wednesday!!!!  Today's topic:

Guest Books:

So it is kind of an unwritten rule that a bride and groom have some type of "wedding welcome" we'll call it.  Traditionally, they have just been literal books for people to sign in.  That is until recently (or not too recent but I'm just now picking up on it).  I have seen many a type of *announcer voice* the new, and improved, gggguuuueeessstttt book!
Okay, I know I'm a complete nerdo.  Let me remind you, I'm at the school library.  Nothing exciting happens here.

Thumbprint Tree:

Soooo, let's be honest.  I'm not completely sold on this idea.  That could solely be because I hate, hate, hate having things on my hands, ink included.  But, if you are having any type of outdoor or country wedding, these are perfect!

Wish Tree:

Okay so I really, really like this idea.  How did trees get so popular anyhow?  I have no idea but I will take it!  So one thing I love about this is guests can write a little note, not just sign their name.  Guests can put any little thing on that note that they would like; inside jokes, famous quotes, etc.  And!  How cute would it be to take these out every year and put them on your Christmas tree?! (Yes, I admit I have already been listening to Christmas music.  It's gonna be a good one this year, I can feel it!)

Furniture:

This idea was pretty new to me but I love this one too.  It's where guests sign some type of furniture that's going to be in/around your house.  I personally think signing matching rocking chairs would be the quintessential item because what married couple doesn't talk about 60 yrs down the road?  What do people above 60 do?  They rock.  In rocking chairs.  On their porches.  When it's not too cold.  :)

Taking Pictures:

I like this idea also.  Who doesn't get all dolled up for a wedding?  I always want to have my picture taken at weddings.  That, and the couple can remember what you looked like back in the day :)  You could do this in so many different ways too.  I have seen it done with props, chalk board messages, and photo booth style.  I.love.erry.one.

Chandelier???:

I'm sorry, WHAT???!!!  Okay.  That is beyond rad.  I mean, what?!  I just can't wrap my head around that one at all.  Whoever came up with this idea is totally ARTSY FARTSY and I LOVE it!!

So there you have it Honeys!  These are just 5 different ways you could do a guest book.  All of these are super cute and can be done really easily.  You could also stick with the traditional guest book and I like when couples do a book with their engagement photos in it that you sign around.  Don't be afraid to be different!  As with everything else wedding, put YOUR style into it and it will be fabulous!

Playing Catch Up-- Napkins

Hey Dolls,

Aaannnndddd I'm back.  And then this is the last one for today so I'll make it good :)  So the other day, I was doing an inspiration shoot with Michelle and she asked me how I thought we should do the napkins.  I then realized, I don't really know a ton of different ways to fold napkins.  I mean, I know the regular folded one, the bow one, and that's about it.  So, I decided to research all the different ways you could do it because napkins can do add SO much to decor.  Here we go:

I'm sorry, what?!  This one is just the bomb.com.  Had to put it.  Nuff said.

Napkins can be used to hold silverware....

*side note:  How hilarious is this.  Made me laugh

A cute way to hold/display menus....

To keep the table looking less cluttered...

And to add some pizazz!

Just a little added bonus so when you go to your caterer, you look legit by knowing the names, or you can do them yourself :)

So, I think it's pretty clear that napkins can add a little somin' somin' to your decor and are something to think about :)  Until next time! (It'll be more than 10 minutes, I promise)

Playing Catch Up-- Wedding Trend Wednesday: Vintage

Hey Dolls,

So, let's just face the facts.  I'm a slacker.  Utter and complete slacker.  But!  I do have good reason....my laptop went kaput for a little while and now that I stole  totally asked permission to use my sister's, we're good to go!  Let's begin shall we?

First thing I want to talk about is Wedding Trend Wednesday!  (only a couple days late).  My wedding trend for this week is:
Vintage:

Here's to taking a little stroll down memory lane, vintage wedding style :)

For almost every single wedding I have helped with in my amazing internship, the send off car is vintage, and I have to say, I'm kind of loving that idea.

Okay seriously?  How cute is that typewriter.  It's my favorite part of this inspiration board.

So this one, I'm kind of biased because it is by Utah Events By Design, the company Sarah and I are interning with.  But isn't this one AMAZING!!!!  I think this theme is French Vintage, or something to that effect.  I think it's just perfect, down to the last goblet.

I love how in both of these inspiration boards, not only is the decor vintage, but so is the dress.  I love, love, love when a bride commits to a theme and ties in her's and her wedding parties' attire to match.  It makes everything come together just wonderfully.

Let's be honest here.  I absolutely love the idea of a brooch bouquet.  Can there be anything more vintage than this?  I'm gonna have to say not likely.  Even if you aren't brave enough to do the whole bouquet with brooches, you can do one like the first picture where they are just scarce throughout but still able to make a statement.

Well, that does it for my weekly wedding trend!  What vintage aspect is your favorite?  Until next time Honeys!  (which will be in about 10 min when I do another post to catch up ;)  )

Wedding Trend Wednesday: Bows

Hey Dolls,

Wedding Trend Wednesdays!  Yes!  Exciting right?!  To start off "Wedding Trend Wednesdays", I'm going to talk about none other than bows

I know what you're thinking "oh my gosh, this girl is bow obsessed", but I DID say they were my favorite girly thing ever and what kind of person would I be if I didn't start with that?  A poser.  That's what I'd be.  That and they're super on point right now.  So, let's begin :)

Cakes:

I think bows on cakes make a statement that is far from being overdone.  I also like cakes that have bows on them to match the dress, I just couldn't find any at the moment.  Also love doing bows with the ribbon because it adds texture to the cake instead of just fondant.

Decor:

Okay, bow shaped napkins?  Are you serious?  These are AWESOME and they look so easy to do.  I imagine it is just taking a rectagle shaped napkin and tightening the middle with a napkin ring.  You could even get super fancy and put a bling napkin ring in the middle.  Who doesn't love a little bling?

Dresses:

So I think bows on the dress are a must.  Even if you don't like big, lavish bows, go for a little one.  Here is why I think they are crucial.  If you look at pictures of dresses with bows, the waist looks tiny!  (And not just because the models are tiny)  Bows totally cinch, and draw all of the attention to your waist which is the smallest part of your body.  Who doesn't want to look/feel tiny on their wedding day?

So, here is the ultimate question:  Have I convinced you of the amazingness of bows???  If not, think about it, you'll be convinced soon :)  Until next time Honeys!

First Post! & Chair Sashes

Hey Dolls,

Yay!!!  Our first post!!  We are so excited!  *tears of joy, jumping with fist thrown in the air, etc., etc.*  Alright, enough of the sappy, sentimental stuff, let's get down to business.

So the other day, I was at school looking up wedding stuff studying.  Somehow, this "studying" session turned into a very long and very entertaining search on chair sashes.  Can you tell I am a complete wedding nerd?  That leads us to the topic of the day...

Our topic for today: THE CHAIR SASH (pause for dramatic effect)

Did you know there are about a bazillion different ways to do a chair sash?  Hence the hour and a half search that didn't even take me through the first 4 google pages.  Out of all the ones I have found, here are some of my fave's.

The Classic Bow:  So cute and not overdone at all!  Bows (my absolute FAVORITE girly thing) add that little touch of elegance that almost every wedding wants!  A definite DO in my book

The Mr. & Mrs.: Okay, how cute is this.  Seriously adorable.  I mean, I don't even care how it is tied in the back, I think these are a must.  They would be perfect for the "Sweetheart Table".  And!  How cute would it be to pull these out for special occasions like Thanksgiving dinner or Take-out Tuesdays?!

The Rosette:  I love this one.  We did it for one of our events and they took forever but were totally worth the end result.  I think ours turned out better but I'm kind of biased.  (I'm using my sister's computer and don't know how to download my pictures from my past events so those will come shortly :) )  These are perfect for the detail oriented bride.

The Demure Diagonal: This is probably my favorite one so far.  I love the way it draws your eye down to the bow instead of keeping your eye table level.  I feel like it makes the amazing tablecloth more noticeable.  Then again, this could just be me, that happens a lot.  On a side note, I'm digging the color palette for this too.

The Weave: HOLY TOLEDO.  Can you imagine doing this to EVERY chair?!  I think I'm scared to even think of how long that would take!  Needless to say, this one looks amazing.  And super time consuming.

So there you have it Honeys, five of the bazillion chair sash styles I found/liked.  I could post a ton more but I will save you the time of more blabbing from me.  Which chair sash style is your favorite?

Cheeks! (as in kissing both sides)

Ash :)
